How to Set Up and Install Smart Wi-Fi Light Bulbs

Screw the light bulb in to a socket and turn on the bulb. The bulbs should start blinking. If they do not turn it on for one second and off for one second, three consecutive times. When the bulb flashes rapidly, it is ready for setup. Then open up the Feit Electric app and connect the light bulbs to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network. How do I connect my Smart Wi-Fi Bulbs to Wi-Fi

First, make sure you’re phone is connected to a 2.4Ghz network. The light bulbs only operate on the 2.4Ghz WiFi frequency and are not compatible with 5Ghz networks. (in some cases you may need to set up a dedicated guest network on this frequency). If your bulb is already on the right frequency, make sure that your phone is not using a VPN app in the background.

What does it mean if my bulb is status is “offline” or the bulb is flashing?

A power outage or router service interruption disconnected the bulb from the network.  While the bulbs do not need to have constant power, if the bulb does lose any power for a long duration of time, it might need a SOFT RESET. In order to do that, do not remove the bulb from the app. Just select the plus sign on the main menu in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Add the bulbs with the original steps, and all names and schedules given will remain and bring your bulb back to a functional state.

Can I turn the Smart Wi-Fi bulb on or off with a light switch?

Using wall switches to turn off the bulb is not recommended, as it may cause compatibility issues or reset the bulb to factory settings.

Why can’t my Smart Wi-Fi bulb change color?

In the Feit electric app, on the color picker screen make sure the saturation slider at the bottom is set to 100%. NOTE: On some older phone models, you may need to scroll down on the screen to find to the saturation.

Are the bulbs HomeKit compatible?

Feit Electric Smart Wi-Fi bulbs are not HomeKit compatible. You can find our line of Apple HomeKit compatible bulbs here.

Can I use the bulbs in ceiling fans?

We do not recommend using these bulbs in ceiling fans that contain dimmers or remote control access.

Can I use the Smart Wi-Fi bulbs with smart switches / plugs?

As the device has smart technology already built in, using smart switches or plugs is not recommended as they may cause incompatibility issues.

Can I schedule in a specific color or brightness level using Smart Wi-Fi bulbs?

You can use Smart Scenes to set a scene with a specific color or brightness level for a device or group of devices,  and then Automations to schedule the settings.

Can I set up a wake-up timer?

You can schedule Smart Wi-Fi devices to go on at a certain time with preset light intensity levels and other settings using Smart Scenes and Automation.  You can also use Google or Alexa Routines to set up using their voice assistant applications.

How do I access smart device features (color, schedule, dim, etc.)?

In the Feit Electric app, from the main menu tap and hold the device icon for 3-5 seconds to bring up the control panel.

Can the Smart Wi-Fi bulbs be used outdoors?

The bulbs are damp rated, meaning they can be used outside as long as they’re protected against severe weather and water contact. Keep in mind that the bulb also has to be within range of the router at all times.

Can I use Smart Wi-Fi bulbs with a dimmer?

No, the Smart Wi-Fi bulbs have a built-in dimmer.  You can dim the light bulb using the Feit Electric app.

Feit Electric
