Adjustable Recessed Lights

FAQ

Recessed Downlights FAQs

What is an adjustable recessed downlight?
An adjustable recessed downlight — also called a gimbal downlight — has a swivel head that rotates within the trim, allowing you to direct the beam at an angle. Standard recessed lights point straight down. Adjustable models are ideal for accent lighting on artwork, shelving, or architectural features.
Do adjustable recessed downlights fit standard recessed cans?
Yes. Adjustable recessed downlights are available in both canless (no housing required — mounts directly to the junction box) and retrofit styles that drop into existing 4-inch or 5/6-inch recessed cans with no rewiring needed.
Are Feit Electric gimbal downlights good for accent lighting?
Yes. Gimbal downlights are specifically designed for directional accent lighting. The swivel head lets you angle the beam toward artwork, built-in shelving, countertops, or architectural details — delivering focused light that a fixed downward-facing downlight cannot provide.
