Color Selectable Lighting FAQs

What is color selectable lighting?
Color selectable lighting is a single LED bulb or fixture that switches between multiple white color temperatures — typically 2700K warm white, 3000K soft white, 4000K cool white, and 5000K daylight — using a built-in selector. No app, no hub, no rewiring required. Feit Electric color selectable LEDs let you dial in the right light for any room or task without buying separate bulbs for each setting.
How do you change the color temperature on a Feit Electric color selectable bulb?
Feit Electric color selectable products use one of four mechanisms depending on the model: (1) Switch Mode — flip the wall switch off and back on within 2 seconds to step through CCT settings; the setting locks when the light stays on. (2) Switch on Bulb — a physical toggle on the bulb base; flip it before or after installation while the bulb is off. (3) Switch on Fixture — a selector button or switch built into the fixture housing; set it once at installation. (4) Twist & Select — a rotating dial at the bulb base; twist to your desired CCT before or after installation. Check the product packaging to confirm which method your model uses.
What color temperatures are available in Feit Electric color selectable lighting?
Most Feit Electric color selectable products offer four settings: 2700K warm white (cozy, residential ambiance), 3000K soft white (warm but slightly brighter), 4000K cool white (neutral, task-appropriate), and 5000K daylight (crisp, high-visibility). Some models offer a 3-in-1 range of 3000K/4000K/5000K. The selected CCT holds until you manually change it.
What is the difference between color selectable and tunable white lighting?
Color selectable LEDs switch between fixed preset CCT settings (e.g., 2700K, 4000K, 5000K) using a built-in physical mechanism — no controller or driver required. Tunable white lighting adjusts color temperature continuously across a range but requires a compatible driver, controller, or smart home system to operate. Feit Electric color selectable bulbs and fixtures are true plug-and-play — no additional hardware or app needed.
What is the difference between color selectable and color changing bulbs?
Color selectable bulbs adjust only within the white light spectrum (2700K to 5000K). Color changing bulbs — including Feit Electric RGBW smart bulbs — produce millions of colors including red, green, blue, and full-spectrum hues in addition to white. Color selectable is ideal for task and ambient lighting; color changing is designed for accent, entertainment, and mood lighting. Color selectable bulbs require no app; color changing smart bulbs typically do.
What types of color selectable fixtures does Feit Electric offer?
Feit Electric offers color selectable lighting across multiple form factors: A19 and A21 standard bulbs, PAR flood and spot bulbs, canless LED recessed downlights, ceiling flush mount fixtures, LED flat panel lights, LED linear tube lights, and shop and utility lights. This makes it possible to use consistent color selectable lighting throughout a home or commercial space.
Are color selectable LEDs dimmable?
Some Feit Electric color selectable models are dimmable and some are not — check the individual product specifications. For models that use dimmer-controlled CCT selection, a compatible LED dimmer switch is required. See feit.com/pages/dimmer-compatibility for a full list of compatible dimmers.
How energy efficient are color selectable LED bulbs?
Feit Electric color selectable LED bulbs are ENERGY STAR certified and use up to 85% less energy than comparable incandescent bulbs. A typical 60W-equivalent color selectable A19 uses approximately 8.8 watts and produces 800 lumens. Rated lifespan ranges from 15,000 to 25,000 hours depending on the model.
