What you'll do:
We are seeking a dynamic Lead Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a versatile communicator with the ability to create a variety of instructional materials including printed manuals, how-to-use videos, installation guides, and in-app instructions/FAQs to enhance user experience and product understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Develop clear, concise, and user-friendly instructional content across multiple mediums such as print, video, and digital applications. This includes writing instruction manuals, scripting and producing how-to-use and installation videos, and crafting in-app instructions and FAQ sections.
- Design and Illustration: Utilize Adobe Illustrator or similar tools to create accurate sketches and illustrations of products and installation methods. Ability to operate independently in developing visual aids that complement written instructions.
- Technical Proficiency: Possess technical skills necessary for basic electrical installations, including wiring ceiling LED lighting fixtures, installing in-wall dimmers, and setting up smart home products (IoT). This technical knowledge should be balanced with an understanding of the consumer's perspective to ensure instructions are accessible to non-technical users.
- Project Management: Demonstrate a detail-oriented approach to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, up to date, and aligned with company standards and product launches.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understand and apply regulatory and safety standards relevant to the lighting industry. Incorporate necessary warnings and compliance information into all instructional materials.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and the Graphics team to ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to technical documentation and user support materials.
- Innovation and Efficiency: Leverage existing templates, workflow processes, and AI tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of content creation.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the lighting industry or related technical fields.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator or similar design tools.
- Hands-on experience with electrical installations and smart home technologies.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, succinctness, and tone.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into user-friendly content.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and safety requirements in the lighting or related industries.
